Recently I had been sending e-mails to several charities asking if they need volunteer photographer to take pictures of their daily activities and/or events. The only charity that replied my e-mails was The Hong Kong Animal Adoption Centre (HKAAC). They are hosting a counter at the Pet Exhibition in Hong Kong from 2nd - 4th April, and I was asked to come along so to take a look at the pets and take some pictures.

It was my first time to visit a Pet Exhibition, it was my first time to use my Canon 5D to take pictures of pets, it was also my first time to use the 24-70mm lens that I bought early this afternoon to take pictures. There were lots of things to see, I was amazed by the amount of stuff that people have invented for the pets. There were foods in all different flavours, unimaginable flavours. There were clothes, toys, everything... There were also so many different kinds of dogs, many of them were really cute.

I rarely take pictures of pets. When I took a quick look of the pictures that I took today on my camera, I thought they were fine. But then when I looked at them on the computer, lots of them were out of focus and blurry. Oh well...

Woke up with the headache that was clinging to me since last night. Took some painkillers and luckily after facial and massage, my headache was gone.

Went home and searched for a lens that can be used for shooting portraits. I decided to get the Canon 24-70mm f2.8 because of numerous reasons. One of the main reasons was that it is an excellent lens for portraits, obviously not comparing it with a standard non-zoomable lens. But 24-70mm gives me both the standard 50mm and 70mm ranges which were said to be good for portraits. It costs just over HKD10,000. I wanted to get it tomorrow just before the photo shooting at the Pet Expo, and also I wanted to use this lens to re-take the pictures that Toby (my photography class teacher) said had problems, and replace those with the, hopefully, better ones, for final submission before 10th April.

今天是攝影班的最後一堂，我們要 present 自己的 final project / homework。看過我的相片後老師說某幾張有點變形。問題是我不覺得有問題！！！她說因為我是用了 wide lens 去拍，而相機跟 object 的距離很近，所以四邊會變形。我應該用 tele lens 去拍，那就會拍得更美。令我整晚都很困擾的是我真的看不出有問題！！！

真的很困擾我！

幸好還可以在四月十日前補相做 final submission。

上堂的課室冷氣開了的話就很冷，關了就很焗。好幾次因為太焗上堂時頭痛，今晚也不例外
